Grand Rapids, MI — The Grand Rapids area Postal Service is hiring for full-time positions. On Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, the Grand Rapids Post Office – Northwest Station, 1625 Walker Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504, will host a job application information fair to fill immediate openings for several positions. WASHINGTON — The U.S. Postal Service will observe Columbus Day on Monday, Oct. 13. Post Office locations will be closed in recognition of the federal holiday. Only Priority Mail Express items will be delivered on the holiday, and regular mail delivery and retail services will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Detroit, MI — Good drivers are a dime a dozen, but safe drivers who dedicate their careers to safety and efficiency are worthy of recognition. In a world of constant driver distractions, 140 Detroit area postal rural and city letter carriers maintained their focus and concern on the safety for themselves and others on the road. The 140 mail carriers were recently inducted into the National Safety Council “Million Mile Club.”

Please note that as of July of 2025, the Postal Service no longer permits using rubber bands and twine or string for securing bundles of flats, with the exception of bundles of First-Class Mail® flats placed in flat trays. All bundles of flats must have two or more cross-strapped bands or be shrink-wrapped with one or more cross-strapped bands, with the exception of newspapers that are placed in a flat tray and entered as exceptional dispatch. Such newspapers may be bundled by using only one strap around the middle of the bundle to prevent damage.
