Elizabeth Mays was raised in Detroit’s historic print community, where the rhythm of presses and the legacy of ink and paper shaped her early understanding of storytelling. Immersed in an environment where craft and communication were deeply intertwined, she developed a lasting appreciation for the power of design to preserve voices and carry ideas forward.
Today, Elizabeth leads MAYS Multimedia and Valley Publishing, guiding projects from initial vision to meaningful impact. Her work is defined by a thoughtful, intentional approach, one that blends design, mentorship, and narrative to help entrepreneurs, institutions, and creatives bring their stories to life. She is known for building connections across disciplines, creating space for collaboration that results in work grounded in authenticity and built to endure beyond passing trends.
Deeply engaged in her community, Elizabeth serves on several Detroit-based boards and creative committees, including Detroit PBS, DSO Classical Roots, and AIGA Detroit. Through these roles, she contributes to shaping platforms that fuse creativity with cultural stewardship, ensuring that the arts remain accessible, relevant, and rooted in community.
At the core of Elizabeth’s philosophy is the belief that design is more than aesthetic, it is an act of empathy. Her process begins with listening, unfolds through storytelling, and culminates in experiences that connect heart, heritage, and humanity.
