DETROIT, MI — On Monday, February 19, 2018, the U.S. Postal Service will observe the Presidents Day federal holiday. There will be no mail delivery, however, a select number of Metro Detroit Post Offices will be open for full retail lobby service, including passport applications.

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Postal Service reported controllable income for the first quarter 2018 (October 1, 2017 - December 31, 2017) of $353 million, compared to controllable income of $522 million for the same period last year. This decrease was largely driven by volume declines in First-Class and Marketing Mail, higher normal cost of retiree health benefits expenses of $140 million and higher transportation expenses of $109 million, partially offset by a reduction in compensation and benefits expenses of $91 million.

DETROIT MI — The latest blast of snow reminds us that winter is still here. Weather reports show more snow is on the way too. To help letter carriers deliver the mail, the Postal Service is asking customers to clear snow and ice from sidewalks, stairs and mailboxes.
